Michaela Johnson is a freelance theater director based in Minneapolis. She serves as the artistic associate for Dark & Stormy Productions, where she recently directed Blackbird by David Harrower.
Regionally, Michaela has worked with Ten Thousand Things, History Theater, Park Square Theater, Jungle Theater, 20% Theatre Company, Rough Magic Performance Company, and Dark & Stormy Productions. Michaela has interned with the Playwrights' Center and assisted for both the Yale Institute for Music Theatre and the National Playwrights' Conference. She is an alum of the National Theater Institute's Theatermakers program, one of four young directors selected nationally to participate in a six-week training intensive in the summer of 2016.
Michaela graduated from Yale University in 2017, where she was a finalist for the Louis Sudler Prize for Excellence in the Performing and Creative Arts.
